Why I Started This Blog
Hi, I’m Rumi Azhari — a medical travel writer from Indonesia. I’m also non-binary, and I know how important it is to feel safe, seen, and respected when navigating healthcare — especially across borders.
My journey began in 2019 when I flew from Yogyakarta to Kuala Lumpur for ReLEx SMILE laser eye surgery at Optimax TTDI. I had done my homework — reading everything I could, comparing clinics in Singapore and Bangkok — but in the end, Malaysia felt right. Not just for the cost, but for the care.
What I experienced was far better than I expected: warm nurses, respectful doctors, thoughtful pre-op support, and a recovery that felt guided, not rushed. The entire process felt human.
That trip didn’t just restore my vision — it opened my eyes to the reality that high-quality, affordable healthcare does exist, and it’s often just a flight away.
That experience became the foundation for MedTourXpert.com — a platform where I combine personal insights, in-depth research, and real stories to guide others on their own medical travel journeys. What started as a blog to answer a few friends’ questions has grown into a trusted resource for people across the world who are looking for affordable, respectful, and high-quality care beyond their borders. This isn’t just my story — it’s a space built to support your journey, too.
